Annually, North Carolina Outward Bound School alumni, parents, staff and friends provide tax-deductible donations that allow our school to offer scholarship assistance to those who otherwise would not be able to attend our courses. Nearly 30 percent of all students who participate in one of our wilderness courses receive financial assistance through our scholarship program. Your support allows us to provide the Outward Bound experience to more deserving students have the opportunity to learn the value of self reliance, physical fitness, craftsmanship and above all, compassion.

2007 Scholarship Recipient:
“I would like to say how much I appreciate the opportunity given to me [through an Outward bound scholarship]. However, appreciation in undeniably an understatement. Not only was I able to push myself to new physical limits, but I also had the chance to find myself. I have grown into a self-reliant, courageous young lady within the past three weeks. It still amazes me that I was able to learn so much about myself in such a short amount of time. Thank you!”
2007 Unity Project Alumni:
"Outward Bound has the amazing power of creating bridges between people who would almost never associate themselves with each other, let alone become friends. Before I came to Outward Bound, my life seemed to be spiraling downwards into cynicism and apathy. Outward Bound gave me something more dear to me than great memories, or even the new close friends I made on the course. It restored my sense of hope in the world."
