Dates: June 29 - July 26, 2024

Participants discover what it’s like to live, work and play in the great outdoors of Western North Carolina on this classic, multi-activity leadership course. The journey will take students deep into some of the oldest mountains in the world, over rocky mountain faces, and through racing rivers.

Sample Course Itinerary
This is only a SAMPLE itinerary only. Adjustments will be made due to weather, programming area availability and group dynamics.
DAY 1: Course Start; Duffle Shuffle, Safety Management Skills
DAY 2: Ropes Course; teambuilding initiatives
DAY 3-6: Backpacking Training Expedition: learning navigation and camping skills
DAY 7-9: Rock Climbing: climbing, belaying, rappelling, and multi-pitch climbing
DAY 10-13: Backpacking Main Expedition: advanced navigation and group decision-making
DAY 14-16: Wilderness First Aid Certification
DAY 17: Service Project: trail building or work with community service organization; resupply
DAY 18-21: Whitewater Canoeing: paddle strokes, boat maneuvers, rapid scouting, self-rescue
DAY 21-23: Solo Activity
DAY 24-26: Backpacking Final Expedition: leadership and independent student travel
DAY 27: Personal Challenge Event; clean and de-issue gear; graduation ceremony
DAY 28: Course End; transportation to the airport
